It was very exciting to see HK in the nest that first time. I could not stop shaking! Months later, that excitement has not diminished. I know I am lucky to be seeing this! Photographed on February 12, 2013.
This is a blog about Norfolk Botanical Garden banded Bald Eagle "HK," hatched in 2009. The photos and observations are mine unless otherwise indicated. I hope you enjoy this story of HK's life along a golf course on the North Landing River. Please take a second and leave a comment, they are greatly appreciated.
HK Builds His Nest

A little nest history
The
nest was located by a couple of
ladies known affectionately as the "dynamic duo." They love eagles
and are quite adept at following them in the car and locating them in their
natural habitat. So it was no surprise that they could pretty easily follow HK
around the golf course and through the neighborhood and find his nest tree.
It didn't look like much at first. Just a few sticks in the crown
of a large Loblolly Pine
tree. But over the course of several weeks it did start to look like an eagle
nest. This was photographed on February 10, 2013.
My first photo of HK
I now believe this is HK, who I photographed being mobbed by crows on 12.1. 2011 over the North Landing River at Honey Bee Golf Course,.
