HK and the Banded Female Return August 23, 2014

As I was on my way to a clean up of the North Landing River, my friend Shirley (Jim Yanello's wife) messaged me that HK and the Banded Female were perched on the tower at the entrance to Honey Bee Golf Course. This has been one of the favorite perches in the past and I was super excited!
And sure enough! There they were, looking quite "lovey dovey."
Reese Lukei arrived during this "shoot" and joined in. We have been trying to get a good view or shot of the Banded Female's USGS silver band for a few years now, without success. A few numbers have been determined, but not quite enough to definitely ID her. We tried again this Saturday, but her true identity still remains a mystery.

HK is on the top.

HK on right. Banded Female on left.

HK changes position.

The Banded Female gives me a look.

  1. Welcome back to the blogosphere Pam! We have missed you.
I'd be interested in hearing about her identity if you guys can ever get a good enough picture of her band. I hope she's not a sibling from the 2007 nest, when only the USGS silver bands were placed on the nestlings...
