HK and Sterling. January 29, 2015

These two Eagles spent more time together today. They were in the air.

They were separate. This is Sterling.

HK flew by with some fresh pine.

While Sterling watched.

Sterling also sat in the nest tree while HK performed some nestorations.

HK made two trips while I was there.

Sterling made a beautiful departure.

HK paused to watch. I am sure he is thinking how gorgeous she is!

Then HK left too.

HK flew right on by!

And landed down the street followed by some pesky Crows.

HK didn't stay long but gave a fabulous fly by as he departed!

HK was relocated on a tower a few minutes later.

He left several minutes later and I found him sitting on what appeared to be a squirrel nest.

He left and flew with soft material from there.

Back to the nest of course!

HK hopped out! I love it when this happens!

Then Sterling few over, very high up.

And that was enough to inspire HK to fly into the wild, blue yonder to join her!

The last time I saw HK today, he was sitting in a tree, waiting for Sterling.....again!

HK and Sterling Times Two

I could see an Eagle in the air as I turned onto S. Independence Blvd. As I made a u-turn and approached the Osprey nest, there was an Eagle about to hop in. It was HK.

And there was another Eagle already in the nest but out of sight. After several seconds and some squawking, HK left the nest. And there was Sterling.

They sat together for several minutes. That's HK on the left.

Then, Sterling left.

And was followed immediately by HK.

After about 90 minutes,  HK reappeared, and was very vocal.  Sterling was already in the Osprey nest.

Both HK and Sterling continued vocalizing.

Apparently something was up and HK left the nest.

He flew across the street and landed in a tree. It was only then that I realized another Eagle was leaving the area.

Sterling continued to sit in the Osprey nest.

And eventually left.

And again was followed immediately by HK.

HK offered a nice end of the day flyby. Thanks, HK!

HK Only: January 23, 2015

I only had time for a quick drive by Honey Bee today. I did find HK in his nest eating something.

As I got out of my car, HK took off with whatever he was eating, plus some extra "fiber."

I relocated him on a tree on the golf course, which was closed due to weather.

He had finished eating and was cleaning his beak. That is called "feaking."

He stood for a bit.

Then,  HK gently floated to the ground. I caught this moment just as a golfer cruised by on a fairway across the river. Every golfer wants an eagle on a par 5!

Just HK. January 22, 2015

I had received a couple reports of possible mating at Honey Bee. I rode out to Honey Bee as soon as I could. I found HK in the Osprey nest. He seemed agitated.

He left abruptly.  But, then surprised me by coming into my location carrying something.

It was some soft nesting material. HK flew right over my head.

And went to the nest.

He left the nest and flew from place to place. He wore me out. Tomorrow is another day!
