HK Goes Fishing

I am trying to get some early starts to my birding activities and this morning did not disappoint.  After seeing zero activity at HK's nest I went around to Ware Neck to see if anything was having breakfast. I saw that HK was in a tree on the opposite side of the water from the golf course. I guess he was in the fishing mode because almost immediately he took off right towards me!
In this photo, he has just flown under the power lines.

HK makes a turn.

He seemed to hover over me.

And dives on a fish...or part of a fish!

This was my fav of the sequence though.

Then HK headed towards his nest but ending up dining alone on a tree on the golf course.

It was a VERY exciting morning!

I found HK today! 4.17.16.

After be unable to locate HK for such a long time, I was able to find him, not once, but TWICE!
The first time, a group of golfers saw me scanning the edge of a fairway with my binoculars and pointed him out. Here is HK warning off an incoming Osprey.

After HK left that area, I was parked by the Honey Bee nest tree when he flew in. He stayed in that tree for over an hour, preening and napping! In this photo he has a feather stuck in his nare (nostril). I SO wanted to pull it off!

I left him in that tree. Hopefully, he got some rest!

HK. 4.6.16

After being unable to follow HK for several days due to some family obligations, I was able to get out to Honey Bee this afternoon. I didn't spot HK at first then he moved a bit in the nest tree and became visible. He appeared to be finishing up a meal.

 He moved into the nest.

An adult Eagle (apparently Sterling) flew over. She did not land.

HK flew after a short time and was not relocated.
