HK, Sterling, and some visitors

HK and Sterling had at least 2 eagle visitors today. The first visitor was perched by the river as I arrived. Conditions were very overcast.

I could not tell at this distance if this was HK, Sterling, or someone else, but  that was pretty much solved when two other eagles arrived, sat briefly, then one flew down the river and just about knocked the visitor off the tree. I could not ID the top eagle.

There was a lot of chattering and screaming and the eagles disappeared in the nest area.  I went looking for them and relocated HK and Sterling on this tower. Sterling on the left and HK on the right.

Sterling left, flew across the road and returned with a fish.

HK hopped over but Sterling did not share.

They sat for awhile.

Then Sterling went off and returned with a second fish!

It was nice to see her catch her own meal for a change! But she still did not share with HK.

They flew to the cell tower and spent a short time just looking around. That's Sterling on the left and HK on the right.

I was hoping they might bond or mate but they left. HK was relocated in the area of the nest tree, very close to the road for a photo but night was coming quickly.

Reluctantly, I left him in that tree.

HK, Sterling, and a youngster

I felt pretty good today and spent about 5 hours at Honey Bee. I had decided to spent a majority of time parked by HK's nest, and I was not disappointed.
As I pulled up, I heard a lot of eagle squawking and saw this youngster leaving the nest tree in a hurry!

It happened very fast but suddenly there were two adults leaving a tree close by and chasing the youngster.

As you can see, my settings were off and by the time I fixed things, Sterling was back in the tree, looking a bit ruffled.

Then I discovered that HK was in the nest, moving things around.

Sterling left and HK moved to another branch.

He left also, and it was several hours before they showed up again in a fav cypress tree.

They left there one at a time. First, Sterling.

Followed by HK.

HK showed up once again, back in the cypress tree, all alone.

And I headed home, tired but happy.

HK and HK and Sterling 2.10.16

I found HK about to stick a landing on the golf course. Such an athlete!

He took off but gave a great flyover.

HK was relocated on a tower and the stunning Sterling came in to visit!

 They chatted.

And stayed together for a while.

Eventually, Sterling left, followed shortly by HK.

Sterling went one way and HK circled the golf course.

He landed in a tree.

And was still there when I left at sunset.

HK all alone: 2.9.16

I went to monitor the Honey Bee area late in the afternoon today.  As I drove up to the nest, it appeared to be empty. But, I sat in the car for about 45 minutes and suddenly, a white head appeared! HK.

I got out of the car to walk around to the back and HK took off. He circled once.
I was able to locate him shortly thereafter on a tower.

HK did some preening.

He took off and I eventually relocated him back in his nest tree.

HK was in a tricky spot to watch so I got out of my car and sat on the street in front.  I enjoyed him getting a quick, quizzical look and then he took off again.

HK in a tree.2.5.16

Finally, a break in the weather and some sunshine! Thankfully, I found HK in a tree looking just gorgeous. I don't know how long he had been there but he gave me 20 glorious minutes.
HK as I arrived.

And HK as he departed.

He was joined at a great distance in the air by another adult Bald Eagle. They circled and soared out of sight.
